PROJECT BACKGROUND

The culture of street markets is one of the most special features of Sham Shui Po. The local culture of the district has been formed based on the lifestyles of the residents living there. The culture has played an indispensable role in the district’s transformation as it shifted from a relatively poor area to a place with rich indigenous culture. By aiming at connecting the traditional local culture with modern creative arts of young artists, this design proposal promotes the features of street markets without causing cultural conflicts in the area of Sham Shui Po.
