The Doll
PROJECT BACKGROUND
With gorgeous costumes, Mystère is very different from the traditional circus performances. It is a combination of lighting, sound, stage design and other technologies, magic, acrobatics, clowns and stage drama that have created a wonderful effect beyond imagination. It gives me a lot of imagination about what a doll would be like if it has a life. In fact, a doll can be a collection of all human fantasies. They have no sense of autonomy. I decided to cover the doll’s head so that no one would know what it really looks like or what it really thinks - just like a clown who has a role to please audiences without showing his own emotion. I want to make a look that everyone feels differently, which may be mysterious and grotesque, or scary, or kind and pathetic.
