Interdisciplinary Programmes
With respect to the emerging needs of industries, the Interdisciplinary Unit (IU) was established as a new academic discipline of IVE in September 2017 under the STEM Office in order to offer academic programmes dedicated to interdisciplinary studies. It aims to nurture talents with interdisciplinary knowledge, versatile, and independent thinking skills. The Interdisciplinary Programmes are lectured by professional teaching staff from different disciplines, and by practitioners in chosen industries where necessary. The Interdisciplinary Programmes offered by IU cover many academic areas and provide our students with a solid foundation of vocational and professional education as well as training. Integrating knowledge and skills across multiple disciplines are also taught in order to help the students meet the challenges of complex, changing and competing workforces of the future. Each interdisciplinary programme is specifically designed with a unique curriculum incorporated with integrated skills and knowledge from relevant academic disciplines. With the aim of preparing our students for a future of dynamic change and cultivating a culture of life-long learning, the Unit offers both full-time pre-employment programmes and part-time in-service programmes. By completing any of our Interdisciplinary Programmes, graduates will have a wide pool of jobs to choose from the industries and fields relevant to the programmes they studied.
