HD in Landscape Architecture
This programme provides a rich learning experience for students with a passion for the environment and people as well as those who are aspired to become professionals in landscape architecture. It lays a foundation of both design philosophy and technical knowledge for students who intend to pursue the landscape architecture profession. By providing background training in landscape planning and spatial design skills, planting design, landscape architecture theory and history, landscape technology, and visual communication, it allows students to gain practical experience or advance to further studies in landscape architecture. Apart from equipping students with technical aptitude, professional knowledge and skills, the programme also provides necessary legal and managerial knowledge, professional language, leadership qualities, interpersonal and other generic skills (initially at a para-professional level) through the blending of theoretical knowledge and practical application, thereby enabling graduates to pursue careers in the profession of landscape architecture. Meanwhile, the programme also aims at cultivating a holistic approach to design education that encompasses both conceptual and professional concerns as well as strengthening our graduates’ capability in making independent decisions. The programme also prepares students for articulation to further education in landscape architecture so as to advance their careers as landscape architects and project managers in the field of landscape architecture. Graduates can apply for admission to top-up degree programmes offered by Birmingham City University, our overseas partnering university, and degree programmes offered by THEi. Graduates of top-up degree programmes can continue to further their studies in relevant Master’s degree programmes and sit for professional examinations for membership in professional organizations in order to become qualified as Registered Landscape Architects.
