Culture is part of people's lives. It tells stories and reminds us of the past. We can explore how past events have influenced and shaped our lives. In the past two centuries, Hong Kong has transformed from a fishing village, a British colony, to nowadays international financial center. “City development is like a dream, in which everything imaginable can be dreamed.” Hong Kong is a legendary place for people who can discover its different facades. To tackle the fact that children often find history a boring lesson, a series of pop-up cards with AR animation was designed to introduce the history of Hong Kong in an interesting way.
By respect the culture of history and the environment, people can establish their own unique identities. Apart from the advanced and prosperous signs in Hong Kong, there are many traditional buildings with conservation values that are worth knowing about. Nowadays, there are many different local tours that are for visitors to experience the past and present of Hong Kong. In this project, traditional buildings in the Sham Shui Po district, Mei Ho House, and vintage truck store are presented. A popup card with barcode will be given to the visitors upon entering each building. By scanning the barcode, visitors can see the building’s past and listen to the narrator’s introduction on the changes that have taken place over the decades.
