PROJECT BACKGROUND
Being a popular decoration material since the 1950s, mosaic tiles are disappearing with renovation and demolition of old buildings. With such changes, mosaic tiles are gradually becoming part of our collective memory. Meanwhile, the yellow duck is a bath toy that has been embedded in most local people’s childhood memory. This collection is about the childhood memory of people in Hong Kong. Yellow ducks are used as the theme together with the mosaic tile pattern. By bringing the old Hong Kong back to life, the two elements have resulted in an interesting outcome. I hope people can have a better understanding of our unique identity as Hong Kong citizens and be reminded of the nice collective memory from the old days.
