PROJECT BACKGROUND
Ma Wan Chung village is a small, deserted fishing port. The view is beautiful and is known as the “Little Tai O’’. This project aims to restore the village community and cultural heritage while rehabilitating the nature of Ma Wan Chung village and the surrounding areas. Using new methods to reconnect the social context, revitalize the local economy, enhance the interaction between humans and nature, and conserve the natural environment, the environment and community can stay sustainable. The project will provide a new channel to allow people to access the cultural heritage and natural environment.
PROJECT CONCEPT
By integrating economic activities into the lifestyle, the “Shophouse’’ has been the economic model of Ma Wan Chung village. Apart from transforming the past economic activities through new design and providing new channels for visitors to experience life, the social context, natural environment, and cultural heritage of Ma Wan Chung village are also valued. The ‘‘shophouse’’ model connects the natural environment and economic activities to preserve this humane community without disturbing the natural environment.
