Story and People of Graham Street
New Definition on Community’s Bazaar Space
PROJECT BACKGROUND
Being an area in the Central District where Chinese neighbors gathered back in the early colonial era, the market community around Graham Street demonstrates a distinct feature of itself. It was a sloped lane with stalls side-by-side vending vegetables, steaming tofu, hot soya milk, fresh meats, and assorted seafood, etc., there are always sounds of shouting, bargaining, and chattering. At a glance, the area is like a container of communal living where people would care for each other. We may define a new concept of communal market from the perspective of human interaction and revitalization. In the Graham Street community, intangible values, distinct cityscape that symbolizes prosperity, and neighbors gather around the sloped lane to build up their unique relationships.
