PROJECT BACKGROUND
The use of the ancient weather wisdom of the 24 solar terms was applied in agriculture. The origins of this way to record the change of seasons can be traced back to the Yellow River (Huang He, 黃河) in ancient China. Ancient Chinese people developed this system by recording the change of weather, movement of animals, and farming. Apart from China, other East Asia countries, such as Japan, Korea and Vietnam, have also adopted this system.
PROJECT CONCEPT
What is the relationship between ancient weather wisdom and modern people nowadays? How can an agricultural tool contribute to our modern lifestyle? These areas are what the project aimed at exploring. Through surveys, interviews, and secondary research from books and the internet, this Chinese calendar series was created to introduce to the users the solar terms and the relevant health knowledge. The East Asian tradition emphasized the rule of nature, which must be followed in order to lead a healthy life. This project uses the form of a calendar to introduce the adoption of the wisdom of the 24 solar terms into modern city life.
