Light from the Dark
By collaborating with The Hong Kong Society for the Blind (HKSB), an NGO serving Hong Kong's visually impaired community with diversified services since 1956, the students of HKDI's Higher Diploma Programme in Product Design, Film, Television and Photography, and Visual Communication explored the social innovative design opportunities with visually impaired people through the methodology of design thinking and project-based learning. The students were inspired by an authentic opportunity to exercise their design mindset and skills with a needy community. During the learning process, students from different departments were able to understand the human-centred approach in design, implement design in the project-based learning process, and develop well-being design solutions for different community groups.
